Karangahake Gorge Tunnel Temporary Closure

The Karangahake Gorge Tunnel located on Section C of the Hauraki Rail Trail will close temporarily for sealing works from the 15th June through until the 1 July.  The Tunnel will be closed at all times for the duration of this period, re-opening on the 2 July in time for the school holidays.

A detour option for riders would be to walk the track on the opposite side of the river, but under no circumstances should you ride this section.  This part of the track is narrow and NOT suitable for cycling.
