If you like getting out on the water, Waimarino Kayak Tours showcase some of the best waterways in the Bay of Plenty.  Tours are available in Tauranga and Rotorua, with the most popular tour on the serene Lake McLaren.  Here visitors experience an evening exploring one of the most enchanting glow worm canyons.

The name Waimarino comes from the Maori words ‘Wai’ meaning water or stream and ‘Marino’ meaning calm or still.  With a passion for kayaking, the Waimarino team offer a variety of Tours, providing unique outdoor experiences that make the most of the stunning Bay of Plenty scenery.

If you’re tempted to dip a toe in the water, or are a seasoned waterman, we’ve selected our two favourite tours for you to include a paddle with your pedal.

Evening Big Kanu Glow Worm Tour

We can’t think of a better way to appreciate the beautiful scenery, birdlife and glow worms than from a seat in the Kanu. The tour takes place at Lake McLaren, an easy 25 minute drive from Tauranga.

Visitors hop in the Kanu at the lakes edge, and paddle through the calm waters towards the head of the lake.  A narrow, high-sided canyon is the home to thousands of glow worms scattered like stars in the night’s sky.

You’ll learn about the life cycle and peculiarities of the glow worms from knowledgeable guides. The tour departs daily before sunset, making the most of the luminescent glow in full darkness.  The 2 hour tour is suitable for children and infants, and no previous experience is required.

Waimarino Adventure Park Supreme Pass
