The Coromandel Experience

The Coromandel Experience

This ride promises impressive views of the Hauraki Plains, Coromandel Ranges and the Firth of Thames (Tikapa Moana-o-Hauraki). The Coromandel is a renowned outdoor haven where rugged terrain meets idyllic coastline. These natural features provide inspiration for the creative works and unique attractions hidden around every corner. Immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery and rich history.

Set off on a journey following the Waihou River, with memorable views across the Hauraki Plains and Coromandel Ranges.

Lush farmland and the small village of Hikutaia set the scene for the first section of the ride, before a stop for morning tea at one of the Coromandel’s greatest treasures nestled in the countryside.

Established in 1994, the iconic venue has produced many award-winning cheeses, and the eclectic Café is full of local memorabilia.

Head towards Kōpῡ and ride across the Historic Kōpῡ Bridge, which crosses the Waihou River near Thames, and is the last remaining operational swing span bridge in New Zealand. Then ride back on the new Kōpῡ Bridge stopping to admire the stunning views across the Firth of Thames.

The Thames Wharf offers the perfect waterside location for lunch, looking out across the water to boats, seabirds and shore life among the mangroves, before exploring Thames and partaking in an activity of your choice.

Embark on a tour through an operational 19th century Stamper Battery into one of the richest goldmines of the time. Explore the photographic museum, and discover the mining relics and steam-powered machines of yesteryear.

OR

Don a Bomber Jacket and secure a spot in the cockpit at New Zealand's ultimate Military Flight Simulator Mancave. Whether it is World War II or Fast Jets, choose your combat mission or dogfight your friends.

No tour is complete without sampling the World’s Best Gin. Only 130 bottles are made in each batch, and the Gin has around 20 raw ingredients, one-third of which the makers grow or forage themselves. To accompany the World’s Best Gin, there will be delicious grazing platters from a local Café with a great vibe.

End your tour with a short ride to JollyBikes for the return shuttle to the Paeroa Maritime Park Festival Hub.
